To qualify, applicants must meet all the following:
Adopter agrees to use only humane, positive reinforcement training methods with the adopted dog. The use of shock collars (including e-collars), prong collars, choke chains, or any other aversive or pain-based training devices is strictly prohibited.
Dallas Street Dog Advocates places dogs who may have experienced stress, neglect, or trauma. Aversive training methods can cause fear, anxiety, and behavioral regression, and are inconsistent with our standards of care.
Failure to comply with this policy may constitute a breach of the adoption agreement.
Adopters are encouraged to seek guidance from qualified, force-free trainers and agree to contact DSDA if behavioral concerns arise so we may provide support and appropriate resources.
Note: Failure to meet any of the above will result in application denial. No exceptions.
